Questions & Answers

Who is Striking?

Striking Remodels by Bell specializes in “turn-key” remodeling. From your initial measurement and design consultation with one of our experienced interior designers to constructing your dream space with our craftsmen and tradespeople, we handle everything.

How much experience do you have?

We have been remodeling homes in the Denver Metro area since 1950.

Why do I want a plumbing company to remodel my Kitchen and Bath?

Striking Remodels is a division of Bell Plumbing and Heating. Drawing from the legacy that Bell Plumbing started in 1926, we offer the same trained and skilled tradespeople you have come to expect with Bell and offer licensed plumbers and electricians, craftsmen, and interior designers to help you realize your dream space.

How Long Does a Remodel Take?

We like to treat every project individually, considering the full scope of work to estimate how long your particular remodel project will take. We have had projects run as little as a couple of days to as long as several months. We minimize disruption by waiting for all ordered materials to arrive before starting the deconstruction process.

Why do I need an Interior Designer?

Our designers are trained to help make your decision process easy. It is their job to listen to you and sift through the thousands of options available for your project and present you with the options that best fit your design criteria. Our designers are skilled in space planning, making sure your room is custom designed for you and your needs. Our team also has their finger on the pulse of current trends and the design staples that make each space feel like home.

What brands do you carry?

We are constantly refreshing our offering of brands, and in most cases, if we don’t currently have a relationship, we can source what you need.

What is aging in place?

Aging in place enables you to stay in your home longer by equipping it with safety features like grab bars, low barrier showers, walk-in tubs, wider hallways, bathrooms with wheelchair turn radius, ADA fixtures, and more. If you aren’t quite ready for these added features, we can still create behind-the-wall supports to allow for them to be added later.

What does the remodeling process look like?

Our remodel process starts with a discovery meeting with one of our designers. These meetings are done via video conference or in person and can take between one and two hours. From there, your designer will put together a detailed scope of work and a general space planning visualization. You will be invited into our design selection center to review this proposal, preview a selection of materials, and discuss any edits you would like to make to the proposal. After this meeting, a retainer is collected, and applied to the final purchase price of your contract, allowing the designer to invest their time into your project fully. There is usually one more meeting with the designer to finalize your material selections and collect your initial deposit. After the deposit is collected, your project is turned over to our production team, and all applicable materials are ordered. Material delivery could take between 4 and 16 weeks, depending on product availability. We do not start the deconstruction process until all materials are in our warehouse. Before materials arrive we schedule a pre-construction meeting with our field superintendent and your designer to review the project, finalize any outstanding items, and address any requested changes to the scope of work. With all materials in place, we schedule a start date and assign the craftsmen. The craftsmen will be working in your home throughout the project duration. Each project timeline is unique, and we do our best to communicate with you daily about what the goals are and what has been accomplished. Around the halfway mark of your remodel we will schedule a meeting with you, your designer, and our field superintendent to walk the project and discuss any items or concerns that need to be addressed. As we near completion, you will be presented with a final punch sheet to write any items that may require a little more attention. While we aspire to zero defects, we do pride ourselves in resolving any outstanding items in a timely manner, allowing you to enjoy your new space.

How do I start the remodeling process?

It starts with a phone call or contact form from our website. From there the design studio staff will gather the basics of your project, asking you questions about what you would like to have remodeled, any problems you are hoping to resolve, and what your design goals are. They will then schedule a discovery appointment with a designer for a complimentary consultation.

Do I need to apply for permits and inspections?

We apply for all required permits and inspections on your behalf.

Is my proposal a guaranteed price?

When you sign your contract, the price you see is our total assumed price to complete your project. That being said, every remodeling project has the potential for unforeseen things to come up. If we discuss changes outside of the original contracted scope of work you will be presented with options and prices. No work will be completed without your approval.

Is Striking Remodels by Bell insured?

We are insured and bonded.

Is there a warranty on your work?

Each remodeling project is warranted for a period of one (1) year from the date of completion. Any Warranty by the Manufacturer for parts beyond the one (1) year will be honored, while labor to replace such parts does not extend past the (1) year project warranty.

What do I need to do to prepare my home for a remodel?

It is always best to make sure the space to be remodeled is completely cleared of personal items and anything that could potentially be damaged. Our team will install dust protection and floor coverings on the very first day of work, though dust particles can’t be completely eliminated. We also request a staging area in the garage or within the workspace to store tools and materials for your specific project.

What renovations bring the most value when selling my home?

Studies indicated that the following home improvements result in the highest return on investment, in order of return:

  • Minor kitchen remodel
  • Two-story addition
  • Bathroom addition
  • Major kitchen remodel
  • Family room addition
  • Deck
  • Master Suite
  • Attic bedroom
  • Home office

Do you refinish cabinets?

We do not refinish cabinets at this time.

Do you discard the materials from the deconstruction process?

We will discard/take care of all waste created by Striking Remodels during your project.

How much should I budget?

  • A standard 3-piece bathroom can range from $16k to $24k
  • A large 5-piece master bath can range from $45k to $55k
  • A Medium-sized kitchen at around 160 sq ft can range from $50k to $60k

All of these numbers are estimates. Your proposal from the design team will take into account your specific needs and material selections.

What happens if you find hazardous materials behind the walls?

If hazardous material is found in your home during any part of the remodeling process we will make you aware. It is your responsibility to reach out to an abatement company (we can recommend one if need be) and have the material removed. We will pause your project until the space is safe to work in again.
