Downtown Condo Case Study Denver Kitchen and Bath Remodel

The Cadello’s moved from Seattle to a condo in the heart of downtown Denver, hoping to create their forever home. The couple engaged in a kitchen and double bathroom remodel to make the spaces better suit their lifestyle and design aesthetic.

They wanted a kitchen large enough for two cooks to move around comfortably, change the standard range to a double oven and separate cooktop, and add additional storage space throughout the unit.

For both bathrooms, the Cadello’s wanted to create custom showers, add additional storage, and create a more luxurious and modern feel from the original traditional style.

To assist these clients, Denver kitchen remodeler designer Rebecca worked up multiple layout options to give them the additional kitchen workspace and appliances they were looking for, while updating the style from traditional to their preferred modern aesthetic. Additional features in the kitchen included pop-up and USB outlets, a new pantry for additional storage, custom cabinet drawers and pull-outs, a built-in trashcan cabinet, and tray dividers above the new double oven.

In the master bathroom, Bathroom Remodelers Denver and Rebecca created a fresh and elegant design with sleek material selections, an enlarged shower with frameless shower door, niche, and bench to replace the pre-existing jetted tub. The enlarged vanity and cabinet above the toilet provided additional storage within the existing footprint of the bathroom. In the hall bathroom, Rebecca enlarged the shower to extend beyond the previous shower space, while maintaining clear floor space to add a full-size vanity, replacing the original pedestal sink.

The Denver Kitchen and Bath remodel team did face a few challenges with building codes, precluding them from moving the kitchen plumbing or relocating the floor drain in the master bathroom. Rebecca solved these challenges by building a custom box within the kitchen sink base cabinet to hide the plumbing and designed the master shower with a linear drain to create a more modern feel in the shower. In the hall bathroom, she designed the extended portion of the shower on an angle, mimicking the wall angles of the bathroom to enlarge the shower without compromising floor space. Both bathrooms were updated to give the Cadello’s a more contemporary feel and additional storage space from the original layout.

The Cadello’s are nicely settled into their new, forever home, and are enjoying the downtown Denver lifestyle.

This single woman, and previous Striking client, was looking to make her home more accessible as she ages, allowing her to remain in her home and maintain her independence.

This Denver bathroom remodel focused on creating a larger shower, a more accessible tub, longer vanity, and upgraded finishes to create a luxurious master bathroom.

Upon discussing various bathtub options to replace the one that was too difficult for the client to exit, she opted for a Japanese soaking tub that allowed her to sit higher and stand prior to getting in or out of the tub. Finishes were chosen to complement earlier remodel selections, with a similar color palette and updated fixtures to create a more luxurious owner’s suite.

Space planning focused on creating a safe entry into the tall soaking tub. Designer Rebecca solved this challenge by establishing a custom step system into the tub, allowing a progressive entry via a ledge for swinging into the deep tub, also allowing for an easy exit without the worry of slipping while wet. A larger shower with overhead spray and a hand-held hose provide a pleasing shower experience.

Ms. Pickett is enjoying her stunning bathroom, confident in her safety and comfort.

The Hall’s were looking to modify two bathrooms to accommodate varied mobility needs for themselves as well as visiting family members. This couple is a previous Striking remodel customer, ready for added modifications to support changing accessibility requirements.

As a certified Age in Place specialist, Denver kitchen and bath Designer Kristy walked the couple through floor plan changes that would allow both standing and sitting activities within the spaces and addressed the couple’s desire to not have the rooms feel clinical.

To accommodate a wheelchair, modifications were made to two bathrooms to make the owner’s bathroom fully accessible, taking some space from the secondary bath and adding it to the master. The resulting master bath now has a wider doorway, the required turn radius for a wheelchair, plus a barrier-free, open shower that includes a chair, traditional plus handheld sprayer on a slide bar for both standing and sitting users, grab bar access, and recesses for soaps and shampoos. The mobility-challenged owner is now able to turn the water on and allow it to warm up before getting into the shower. An open vanity for access to the sink for hand washing and teeth brushing, lowered medicine cabinets, sanitary washlets on the toilets, grab bars that double as towel bars, water resistant and slip-resistant floor tiles, motion-detecting lights, illuminated rocker switches, a heat lamp, and no doorknobs all make the bathrooms in the

Hall residence more accessible and user-friendly for all users.

The remaining powder room, which was awkward with an angled door that limited access to the space, is now straightened and widened, with a soft-close pocket door.

The Halls were delighted to have their remodel complete prior to fall, as they were using an outdoor shower during the remodel process.

Denver Townhome Case Study: A Kitchen Remodel in Denver

This couple opted to downsize from their home in Aurora to a townhome in Denver. While their previous home was larger than they needed, or wanted, it was designed just the way they liked it.

The Chambus’ new kitchen didn’t have the luxury finishes or the functionality they had come to enjoy. A small, central island was home to a cooktop with an inconvenient overhang intended for bar stools sitting up against the range. The cabinets did not offer enough storage space, and the adjacent family room was not designed to hold the furniture they intended to place.

Denver Kitchen Remodelers and Designer Kristy were able to create a more functional, usable space for her clients by flipping the sink and range. Placing the sink within the newly created peninsula island that extended into the former breakfast nook allowed for improved entertaining and meal preparation, with a downdraft vent added over the range. New ceiling-height cabinets extended into the former breakfast nook, doubling the couple’s storage space. Under Cabinet lighting and outlets keep electrical components off of the stunning and uncluttered backsplash, with ports for accessories like an iPad cradle and USB outlets. The former doorway between kitchen and dining areas was removed and the space was widened to create a more open feel. Convenience accessories include illuminated upper glass cabinets, pop-up outlets, custom cabinet drawers, rollouts, trash cabinets, tray dividers, and shelves for showcasing treasures. In the adjacent family room, a massive fireplace with surrounding built-in shelving was replaced with a smaller insert fireplace to create added floor space and room for their furniture.

The exterior of the townhome is formal traditional, but the clients didn’t want a traditional interior, preferring a transitional design inside. The couple is very pleased with their new space.

This hard-working businesswoman wanted to update her three bathrooms that had very outdated finishes. Spending more time at home, post-pandemic, she determined it was time to make her older home new again, adding both color and personality.

Each bathroom had pre-formed counters and backsplashes with shower or tub inserts and very little color.

Bathroom Remodeler Denver Designer Claudia worked with the client to make material selections that suited her personality and style. This was a client who decisively knew what she wanted.

Now, each bathroom has a different feel, but all are cohesive. The owner’s bath now has lovely painted grey cabinets, elegant subway tiles with liner bar accents and soap niche, and a fun, whimsical patterned tile floor. The main level powder bath incorporates a nautical/beach feel. The client wanted this bathroom to have pops of navy blue and wood tones. The lower-level bathroom has pops of green with subway tiles in the shower and plank tile flooring.

This client was very easy to work with and is delighted with her new spaces.

The Click’s had lived in their home a number of years before resigning themselves to an update. This couple was ready to move on from the older finishes and they were looking for better functionality within their bathrooms and laundry room. As shorter people, the heights of shower heads and benches needed to be at a more comfortable level for them.

The main floor bathroom and laundry area required only cosmetic changes, refreshing the finishes and adjusting the lighting. The owner’s bath, however, was the bigger struggle for this couple. They wanted to replace a bathtub with an oversized shower and create a more usable space for themselves.

This was a fun project for Claudia, one of our Denver bathroom remodel designers, to work on, with some specialty materials that they were thrilled to incorporate.
